The Master Class Series offers unique performance opportunities and educational experiences for the next generation of chamber ensembles. These classes provide a platform where aspiring musicians can learn directly from renowned artists in an interactive setting. Hosted in Rose Studio at CMS, with our community and school partners throughout NYC, and on tour worldwide, these master classes serve as a bridge between renowned artists, aspiring ensembles, and enthusiastic audiences, enhancing the educational and performance experience for all involved. Through personalized instruction, feedback, and live demonstrations, participants gain invaluable insights and practical skills to elevate their musical artistry.  

Application Timeline 

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Ensembles will be selected with waitlist and confirmed for final participation (1) one month from date of Master Class.

Application Requirements 

  • Repertoire Selection 
  • Biography of each performer (100–150 words) 
  • One Letter of Recommendation for the Ensemble (submitted with application)  

Eligibility 

  • Ensembles must currently be enrolled in a college or conservatory 
  • Musicians must be currently enrolled in the same college or conservatory to apply 
  • Musicians must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application 
  • Ensembles are selected by faculty recommendation  
  • It is recommended that ensembles have performed together at least (1) one year 
  • For some Master Classes this is a requirement 

Information for Selected Ensembles 

  • Each ensemble must be available at Rose Studio at CMS from 9:30 am–1:00 pm on the Master Class date 
  • Master Class length is from 11:00 am–1:00 pm on the listed date 
  • 2–3 Ensembles will be selected for each Master Class 
  • Each performing ensemble musician will receive (1) complimentary ticket to a CMS concert featuring the Master Class artist.
