CMS Kids offers relaxed, interactive concerts for children and their families. These informal performances welcome all young listeners, including those with sensory sensitivities.
Every CMS Kids event offers a Relaxed Performance, fostering an inclusive concert experience free from judgment. This performance is less formal and more supportive of sensory, communication, movement, and learning needs. Learn more about what to expect here. Kids explore chamber music through movement and play, then enjoy an up-close session with musicians and an instrument petting zoo.

To ensure adequate safety and capacity, all attendees for this event, regardless of age, need a ticket. This includes children that will be sitting in a guardian's lap during the performance.

Praised by the New York Times as an “excellent young pianist,” Chelsea Wang has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician throughout North America, Europe and Asia. She is a prizewinner of many international piano competitions, and has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony and musicians from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Her festival appearances include Music@Menlo, Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Bravo!Vail, Tippet Rise, and many others. A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, Ms. Wang is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Meng-Chieh Liu, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, Leon Fleisher, and Yong-Hi Moon. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music with James Giles. Additionally, Wang is a member of Ensemble Connect, a fellowship program under the joint auspices of Carnegie Hall, the Weill Institute, and the Juilliard School.
Cellist Estelle Choi has been praised by the Los Angeles Times for “giving the impression that music and the room are a single living being.” She is a founding member of the Calidore String Quartet, which made international headlines when they won the Grand Prize of the 2016 M-Prize International Chamber Music Competition. The Calidore is an Avery Fisher Career Grant winner, BBC 3 New Generation Artist, recipient of the Lincoln Center Emerging Artist award and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, and alums of CMS’s Bowers Program. She serves on the faculty of the University of Delaware School of Music as Associate Professor of Violin and co-directs the UD Graduate Fellowship Quartet Program and Calidore String Quartet Seminar. She studied with John Kadz and went on to work with Aldo Parisot at the Yale School of Music and Ronald Leonard at the Colburn Conservatory.
Taiwanese violist En-Chi Cheng has served as an Associate Member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 2019. His career highlights solo appearances with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra performing Walton’s Viola Concerto, as well as the world premieres of Andrew Hsu’s Arabesques for Viola and Strings and James Ra’s Concerto for Three Violas and Strings. He received the Balmoral and Josef Weinberger Prizes at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition and is a two-time recipient of the Chi-Mei Arts Award. He contributed to the Metropolitan Opera’s 63rd Grammy Award–winning recording of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. His festival appearances include the Marlboro Music Festival and Music from Angel Fire. Since 2023, he has been a faculty member at the Chamber Music Conference at Colgate University. An alum of the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, his principal teachers include Joseph de Pasquale, Hsin-Yun Huang, and Samuel Rhodes.
Praised for her “seductive artistry” and “rare grace” (Classical Voice North America), violinist Clara Neubauer was a recipient of the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music from the Juilliard School and the Ana Chumachenco Award from the Kronberg Academy. Recent appearances include the Caramoor Center, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Rome Chamber Music Festival, and an international tour with Musicians from Marlboro. Since making her solo debut at age ten with the National Repertory Orchestra, she has appeared as soloist with ensembles across the US and Europe. A recipient of the Kovner Fellowship, Clara studied at the Juilliard School with Li Lin, Itzhak Perlman, and Catherine Cho. She served as concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra, including in a performance conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Beginning this fall, she will attend the Kronberg Academy as a student of Mihaela Martin.
